How to store jewellery
Tins and chests. Decorative boxes, or tiny plates? There are as many ways to store jewellery as there are people who wear it. But which one is the best, or how should jewellery be stored at all?
Size doesn't matter
Regardless of whether you have a large collection of earrings, bracelets, rings and necklaces, or just a few of your favourite items for everyday wear, jewellery should be stored in the right way. So that it will serve you, and maybe other generations for a long time.
Each of us knows the feeling of frustration when we want to put on our favourite necklace or earrings just before going out, and they, as if to spite you, get tangled in an unknown way and there is no way to untangle them.
Or maybe you spent your precious time looking for a matching earring, or for that one ring because, as usual, it is not where it should be?
Such problems are solved by jewellery storage systems ... Only if you use them and store your jewellery in them, of course.
First of all, order
You like your collection, whatever size it is, and we know that you want to keep it for as long as possible. A piece of jewellery was given to you as a gift, or maybe you gave yourself a gift. We know there is history associated with jewels. Take care of them.
First, collect everything in one place and put it in order.
Pair your earrings. Sort your accessories.
When did you last clean your treasures? Have you ever done this at all? We have already written how to care for jewellery and how to clean it in a separate post.
Polish your favourite elements with a microfiber cloth for example, and they will reward you with shine.
Jewellery, although made of durable and quite hard materials, does not like moisture, dust and a lot of sun.
Check if the place where you put it away is not exposed to such conditions. Do not put it on the windowsill or other sunny places for a long time. The edge of the sink is also not a good idea in the long run.
Although jewellery seems to be indestructible to us, long baths and showers as well as rubbing against other elements certainly do not serve it. If you have the opportunity, do not bathe in jewellery and do not store all items "in a pile". Jewellery stacked in such a way is very easy to scratch.
If your jewellery is in constant contact with water, sun, detergents, it can quickly become black and damaged.
Get organised
How you store your jewellery largely depends on your lifestyle.
Every morning, the alarm clock rings too late and you barely have time to get dressed in a hurry?
The original pouches and boxes in which you get your jewellery will not be a solution for you.
However, if your mornings are quite orderly and you have a little more time, finding a specific element will not be a problem.
Preserving your treasures in their original packaging is one of the easiest ways to protect them. However, it can be quite annoying to find your way around if all of them look alike.
A drawer organiser is a good way to organise and protect your jewellery if you have a spare drawer in your closet or desk.
In such an organiser, you can easily separate your jewels from each other, nothing will tangle nor rub. A multitude of compartments will help you organise and segregate the entire collection.
A chest, a jewellery tin, a decorative box. Our grandmothers often used those methods of storing jewellery. We could look for the greatest treasures in them with impunity.
You might have inherited such a box from your grandma?
Such items are often padded with a special soft material so that they can protect what is most valuable.
Compartments of various sizes will help you find a place for any decoration. The box itself or a chest is also often a beautiful item worth displaying on a shelf.
If you like to have everything on display and you often change your jewellery, you will love jewellery hangers or stands.
They can have different shapes, although those that look like trees or hands are the most popular, you will easily find something for yourself.
Remember not to hang chains next to each other and do not expose the stand to direct sun.
What are your individual jewellery storage methods?
Are you a minimalist and are you satisfied with a beautifully decorated plate or a small box?
Or maybe you prefer the maximalist style, such as a box full of stones, colours and shapes? You definitely have a special, separate place for all your treasures.
How do you store ARTIPOL jewellery?
Remember that it likes to receive a lot of care. And once in a while you can spend some more time on it. It will bring you joy for many years to come.
