The most fashionable jewellery of all time: earrings
We have already written a lot about earrings. You know how to choose the perfect earrings for the shape of your face, and which ones best suit your hairstyle.
Right after rings, earrings are the most frequently and often bought jewellery, both as a gift, and for no special occasion.
Here, the only obstacle may be the non-pierced ears of the recipient. But isn’t a beautiful gift such as personalised earrings a sufficient push to pierce them?
The ARTIPOL offer includes a wide selection of stones and shapes, and above all, silver of the highest quality, forming the most beautiful earrings.
Everyone can find something for themselves. Both a lover of minimalism, and a maximalist who loves to shine with jewellery.
Who Invented earrings?
Earrings have been worn by both women and men for thousands of years. They have always been decorated with stones. They were popular in Europe and Asia.
Apparently, in Antiquity, bodies were adorned with them, and in Egypt it was jewellery worn first by the pharaoh. Only later did such ornaments appear on the bodies of the Egyptians.
Archaeologists have evidence that the cats of the Egyptian court were decorated in this way as well. Moreover, a body buried at 18 was found, its ears pierced. This proves that children had their ears pierced, just like today.
Not only a proof of status and wealth, earrings were also designed to scare away demons and evil charms.
The Roman times and the period of Julius Caesar are also the ages of popularity of earrings. However, there has been a significant change in terms of wearing jewellery at that time. During the disintegration of the great empire, jewellery was worn only by women. The ornaments also lost their guarding power.
From then on, it was fashion that dictated what to wear and what not to wear.
The Middle Ages are the "dark" period for jewellery, but especially for earrings. Back in the 13th century, the Church forbade ear piercing.
A great comeback of jewellery and fashion
The Renaissance and Enlightenment are not only a golden age for art and culture, and more freedom for morals.
That’s when jewellery made its comeback. Gold and silver, decorated with natural and precious stones.
In the Renaissance, both sexes could again pierce their ears and wear ornaments without fear.
In times of sea expeditions, earrings had become a talisman again, but for ... pirates.
That piece of jewellery was supposed to finance the burial of the ship captain in a foreign land. The jewels could also bear the name of the port where the body of the dead should be sent.
The Enlightenment is an era of glamour and display of whatever makes up our best possessions. Earrings were displayed. They were often decorated with rubies, sapphires, garnet or emeralds. Jewellery lovers of those times would love the ARTIPOL earrings collection.
In modern times, earrings have had their ups and downs again. The beginning of the 20th century is the time for clip lovers. Studs and dangling earrings only started making a comeback in the 1950s and 1960s.
But it wasn't until the 1970s that the ear piercing service became widely available. An icon contributed to this fashion - Queen Elizabeth II, who wore shiny studs in her ears every day.
Do you think she would have found something for herself in our assortment?
Jewellery for kings, rulers and you
You already know how much good jewellery means, and especially jewellery of perfect quality. That's what we have to offer, especially for you. You can enjoy the jewellery that the rulers would wear.
Imagine the splendour of court salons and, in women's ears, magnificent earrings with deep green jade.
Or maybe a better choice would be a mysterious and shimmering black onyx, paired with a burgundy velvet dress, or one with a deep slit.
Do you think the Queen would have liked the studs with our beautiful, shiny blue topaz? Maybe she would have traded her diamonds for them.
We know that they can successfully add splendour to any party and be an addition to any outfit.
Do you prefer more informal meetings? This is where amber sticks or deep purple amethyst work reliably.
No matter what you decide, our earrings will create a perfect background for your beauty and selected outfits.
Fortunately, we are no longer limited by divine prohibitions or the lack of special privileges. You can wear jewellery wherever you want and in whatever shape you want. And - let’s not hide it - it would be best if it was from ARTIPOL.
